Toshiba laptop: How to remove the hard disk drive
If you plan to replace the hard drive, you'll have to transfer the foil covering the drive and the bracket to a new drive.
Toshiba Satellite 1200
Turn the laptop over and remove the battery. Remove two screws securing the laptop hard drive. Slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the system board and remove the hard drive. Unscrew the bracket from the hard drive.
Toshiba Satellite 5105
Turn the laptop upside down. Remove the battery. Remove one screw securing the hard drive cover and remove the hard drive.
Toshiba Satellite P10 and P15
- Turn over the laptop and remove the battery.
- In this model the hard drive is located under the CD/DVD drive and you have to remove it to access the hard drive. The optical drive is secured by one screw. Remove the screw and slide the drive from the laptop.
- The hard drive is hidden under a metal plate. Remove four screws securing the plate.
- Lift up the plate and remove it from the laptop.
- Now you can access the hard drive. Remove four screws securing the hard drive.
- To disconnect the hard drive from the connector on the system board, slide the hard drive down.
- Lift up and remove the hard drive.
Toshiba Satellite X205
Toshiba Satellite X205 has with two HDD.
Remove laptop battery and remove covers from both laptop hard drives. Slide the left hard drive to the left and remove the hard drive. Slide the right hard drive to the right and remove the hard drive.
Toshiba Tecra A2
- Turn over the laptop and remove the battery.
- Remove the hard drive cover, the cover is secured by one screw.
- Slide the hard drive to the left to disconnect it from the connector on the motherboard.
- After the hard drive is disconnected, lift it up and remove from the bay.
Toshiba Portege M600
Turn over the laptop and remove the battery. Remove two screws and then remove the hard drive cover. Slide the hard drive to the right and disconnect it from the motherboard and remove the hard drive.
Toshiba Qosmio G35
Turn over the laptop and remove the battery. Remove two screws and then remove the hard drive cover. Slide the hard drive to the right and disconnect it from the motherboard and remove the hard drive.
After you are done with the hard drive removal you may proceed to placing the data recovery order.
